At one point there was no other option on the market beyond a wired security camera. There were a lot of problems with this type of security camera and it was extremely difficult to install in an existing home or a building. Some people would even have to recruit the help of a professional to be able to get everything set up for them. Once wireless cameras were introduced into the market, there were a lot more options for the user to choose from.
